Privacy and cookies

Your information, and what we do with it.

Written in plain English rather than legal boilerplate, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not really a privacy policy.

  • We never sell your data
  • No third-party marketing
  • ICO registered
  • Free to exercise your rights
Section 1

Who we are

Lifetime Equity Release Limited, trading as Lifetime Home Finance, is the data controller for the personal information you give us. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 11863967, with our registered office at 25-29 Sandy Way, Yeadon, Leeds, LS19 7EW.

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm reference 936736, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller.

If you have any question about how we handle your information, contact us at enquiries@lifetime-group.co.uk, call 0113 833 1003, or write to us at KD Bros. Building, Brancepeth Place, Northside Business Park, Leeds, LS12 2EG.

Section 2

What we collect

What we collect depends on how far you take things with us. If you only fill in an enquiry form or use a calculator, it is very little. If you go on to take advice, it is considerably more, because we cannot recommend a mortgage, an equity release plan or a protection policy without understanding your circumstances properly.

If you make an enquiry

  • Your name and contact details
  • Rough property value and mortgage details, if you give them
  • What your enquiry is about
  • The page you enquired from, and the date and time

If you take advice from us

  • Date of birth, marital status and dependants
  • Income, employment and outgoings
  • Credit commitments and credit history
  • Property details and ownership
  • Health and lifestyle information, where the product requires it
  • Identification documents for anti-money-laundering checks

Our website does not ask for any of this before you choose to give it. The calculators run entirely in your browser and none of the figures you type into them are sent to us.

Section 3

Why we use it, and on what basis

We only use your information for the purpose you gave it to us for, and to meet obligations placed on us as a regulated firm. We do not sell your data. We do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

What we doOur lawful basis
Respond to your enquiry and arrange a call Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and your consent
Assess your circumstances and give advice Performance of a contract with you
Submit an application to a lender, insurer or provider Performance of a contract with you
Identity and anti-money-laundering checks A legal obligation we are under
Keep records of the advice we gave and why A legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in defending our advice
Contact you about your existing plan or a review Our legitimate interest in ongoing service to clients

Where we rely on legitimate interests we have considered whether that interest is overridden by your rights, and we will explain our reasoning if you ask.

Section 4

Health and lifestyle information

For equity release, some later life lending and all protection advice, we need to ask about your health, your lifestyle and sometimes your family medical history. This is special category data and it receives extra protection in law.

We process it only with your explicit consent, which we will ask for clearly and separately, and only to the extent needed to place your case with an insurer or lender. You can withdraw that consent at any time, though we may then be unable to continue advising you on a product that requires it.

Section 5

Who we share it with

We share your information only where it is necessary to do the job you have asked us to do, or where the law requires it. Specifically:

To progress your case

Lenders, insurers, product providers, surveyors, solicitors and conveyancers, and where relevant a packager or a specialist distributor. We tell you before we submit anything.

Because we have to

The Financial Conduct Authority and other regulators, credit reference and fraud prevention agencies, our auditors and compliance advisers, our professional indemnity insurers, and law enforcement where legally required.

To run the business

Our IT, email, telephony and client management suppliers, who act on our instructions only and are bound by contract to keep your information secure.

Never

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for anyone else's marketing, and we do not pass your details to unconnected third parties.

Our suppliers are based in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area wherever possible. If information is ever transferred outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

Section 6

How long we keep it

We keep records for as long as we are required to, and no longer.

RecordHow long we keep it
Enquiries that do not proceedUp to 12 months, then deleted
Mortgage and protection advice filesAt least 6 years from the end of our relationship
Equity release and later life lending filesIndefinitely, because these plans can run for the rest of your life and beyond
Anti-money-laundering records5 years from the end of the business relationship

These periods reflect Financial Conduct Authority record-keeping requirements and the length of time a complaint could reasonably be brought against the advice we gave.

Section 7

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the following rights. All of them are free to exercise, and we will respond within one month.

  • Access: ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • Rectification: have anything inaccurate corrected
  • Erasure: have information deleted where we are not required to keep it
  • Restriction: ask us to pause processing while a concern is resolved
  • Objection: object to processing we carry out under legitimate interests
  • Portability: receive your data in a portable format, or have it sent to another provider
  • Withdraw consent: at any time, where consent is what we rely on

To exercise any of these, email enquiries@lifetime-group.co.uk or write to us at KD Bros. Building, Brancepeth Place, Northside Business Park, Leeds, LS12 2EG. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, which protects you as much as it protects us.

You will never be treated differently for exercising a right, and it will not affect any advice or service you receive from us.

Section 8

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. This site uses very few of them.

Strictly necessary

Needed for the site to work at all: remembering your cookie choice and keeping enquiry forms functioning. These do not require consent because nothing works without them.

Analytics

Help us understand which pages people find useful so we can improve the site. These are only set if you accept them, and declining costs you no functionality whatsoever.

Advertising

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not use cross-site tracking. No third party is permitted to profile you through this website.

You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner, and you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not stop you using the site.

The calculators on this site do all their working in your browser. Nothing you type into them is transmitted to us or stored anywhere.

Section 9

Complaints about your data

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. Email Peter Huckerby at info@lifetime-group.co.uk or write to us, and we will investigate and respond.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the UK supervisory authority for data protection:

Information Commissioner's Office
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
Telephone: 0303 123 1113
ico.org.uk

Complaining to the ICO does not affect your right to complain to us, or to the Financial Ombudsman Service about the advice or service you received.

This policy was last reviewed in August 2026. If we change it materially we will say so here and, where the change affects you directly, we will tell you.

Next step

Any question about your information, just ask

We would far rather explain it than have you wondering.

What happens when you call

  • You speak to a qualified adviser, not a call centre
  • We ask what you are trying to achieve, then listen
  • You get an honest view of what is realistic
  • No pressure and no obligation to go further
